Beyond excellent service, given with good humor and knowledge of the entire menu, as well as fabulous home cooked, Eastern European food! We enjoyed the Pierogies appetizer, Liver Dumpling Soup, Beef Tongue in Horseradish Gravy, Roast Duck, Breaded Pork Tenderloin and Svickova, Sauerkraut and Dumplings with ample Gravy. We even had dessert, Apple Strudel! Definitely a big change in diet for us, but we need to experience change once in awhile! Highly recommended at least once in your lifetime, our friends go every other week! CASH ONLY, reservations accepted.

First time coming to this restaurant. The service was great. The gentlemen who took our order was friendly and courteous. I had the meatloaf and beef noodle soup, my husband had the breaded pork loin and the split pea soup and our daughter had spaghetti from the kids menu and we ordered an order of pierogis. The waiter brought us a rye bread/cracker basket. My soup was good and my husband said it was the best split pea soup he's EVER had. The pierogis we're good, but the meatloaf was different from what I am used to (I thought it was going to be American meatloaf), it wasn't bad, just different. My husband's breaded pork was really, REALLY good! We had some kolackis for dessert. All in all, it was good.

Not the best Czech/European restaurant I have ever been to, but a very good eatery at affordable prices.

There are very few places to get authenitic Czech/Bohemian food in Chicago anymore. So I always try to visit at least one of the remaining spots every year to remind me of my beloved Grandma's cooking. To be fair that is a very high bar to meet, and grandma's supper club closed 25 years ago, so it helps to keep some perspective and not try to compare everything to Grandma's kitchen. Riverside's service was attentive friendly and helpful, I got a good recommendation on an imported Czech beer. Although they featured most of the fare I'd expect to see on the menu, breaded pork tenderloin, roast pork, liver dumpling soup, Bohemian rye bread, etc., porato dumplings were conspicuously absent. Also I got the impressionssion that little of it was really home made. This was basically the Greek diner equivalent of Czech food. To this end, prep times and perishibilty usually take precedence over premuim ingredients and freshness. Oh and salt, lots of salt. Everything tasted as expected, the rye bread an liver dumpling soup were highlights for my meal. I definitely filled up and was satisfied. As always with a 3 or 4 course Czech meal, it was a good value. I am grateful that places live Riverside Restaurant still exist, and am happy to support them. However, I'd love to see an occasional home cooked special. Other things to note. Free parking, cash only with ATM on site. Also to avoid bad manner shaming from the regulars, take your hat off when indoors, and doesn't belong on the table either. I learned this the hard way as a youngster.

Outstanding food and service!! All homemade dishes from the bread to the soup, main courses and desserts. Great value too. Way to many dishes to try in one visit. The pork tenderloin and potato pancakes were outstanding. We will be back! Just make sure you bring cash or your ATM card - cash only. We have never been disappointed here, have been going here since it opened. It is cash only, but that is OK, plan ahead. The breaded pork tenderloin is the best anywhere. Staff is great also.
