Good for kids
This is a decent little trail for a family with two strollers. That is the only group I saw on the trail! The trail is actually on Twelve-o-clock-knob mountain. Good views in winter

Cool little trail in the suburbs of Roanoke. Parking was a breeze. There's two trails; both loops. Red loop is under 1 mile. Blue loop is about 3.5 miles. Steep descent via switchback to a gorgeous mountain stream. Climb out was challenging. Take a picture of the map to reference. There are signs throughout the hike but no actual arrows indicating which way to go. Apparently there's a rare species of shrub called a piratebush that only grows in the area. Was easy to spot.
Great hike. Awesome views but with those views come a strenuous hike.
What a beautiful day on the Poor Mt trail. Rhododendron just finishing up and Mountain Laurel just starting. Not to be forgotten is the water falls running full.
Awesome hike. We did the entire hike. Make sure you have secure shoes as it is rocky and up and down elevation. Took us a good two hours. Stopped briefly for photo ops. Start early when it is cool if the heat bothers you.
