We had Tom teach us how to make some maple syrup pourers in 2 shorter sessions (sculpting, then glazing after it dries). He was a great teacher, very knowledgeable about everything pottery, and great at keeping us engaged and learning even in our small group. We've never touched clay before but I think it would be a great spot for even experienced potters to go learn. Has all sorts of small group lessons, homeschool classes, and more, and was super flexible scheduling for us. Highly recommend for a fun couple hours!

Went here with a group of friends for a paint party and had a ton of fun! They have beautiful oil paintings and pottery in this Rockford art gallery. They offer group classes on pottery and oil painting as well. Tom Harrison is truly a skilled artist and I would recommend this place to Friends and family.
We signed up for a class and then Covid hit. Once things opened up a bit, Tom let us do the class, which was 2 sessions, privately with no extra cost. This made us feel safe and having private classes felt like such a steal! First session was actually making the pottery and the second class was glazing (coloring). Tom explains each step with patience. Thanks Tom. If I hadn't moved, I'd be back for more for sure.
Had an excellent time! I set up a surprise girls night for my sister's 30th. I brought along our music, drinks and snacks. What a memorable night. Tom was incredibly knowledgeable, patient and helpful. We all had a crash course in throwing clay and were all able to create a couple of pieces to bring home. We all had an awesome time getting messy. Then, got to repeat our girls night a couple of weeks later to glaze everything. I had never played with clay before, it was so relaxing and challenging at the same time. I loved it so much that I brought my husband an anniversary date. Can't wait to bring in my kids! We will be back and are telling everyone about Tom and Three Ravens Studio
A cool studio
Three Ravens Studio is delightful, both the setting and the experience of throwing pots. Tom Harrison, owner, is a detailed, realistic teacher. He helps with all aspects from the beginning throwing to the glazing. Tom is not only able to show how to throw pots, but able to transfer the knowledge into an understanding for the beginner to make a pot on the first lesson. Tom's own creations are extremely well done, practical, and reasonably priced for any buyer of functional or decorative pottery.
I loved the pottery course I took and will be signing up again! I had no previous experience but was able to finish the 5 weeks with 7 finished peices!! Tom's instruction was great and very low pressure to allow you to figure things out as you go but with supportive guidance the entire time. I highly recommend visiting either for learning to make your own pottery or even to just purchase some of his already made awesome pieces!
Beautiful work and amazing instruction! The unique style of wares made are always great to see at exhibits. Plus, Tom is a fantastic contribution to Rockford and how he encourages students of all ages. I can't wait to sign our child up with him.
