I would not recommend Godfrey & Black to install a woodstove in a building with a metal roof. John, the installer, butchered the roof framing. He cut a section out of the center of one perlin (with trusses on 5' centers) and just left it that way. Someone standing on the roof experiences the metal roof panel sink, giving them the feeling they may fall thru. In addition, water continued to leak down the flue which wound up on top of the wood stove and in the floor. John came out again and replaced the roof boot and put lots of silicone everywhere, which did not bond well to the metal roof. The flue leaked for months. I finally had to get up there, remove two roof panels, frame correctly around the flue, put two new roof panels on, install a soft aluminum vent under and over the metal roof and re- install the flue. Now, it has no sealant whatsoever on the roof penetration. It does not leak at all and the roof structure is solid once again after spending another 250 in materials and my time to do it right. Conclusion: John said he had been to several training events to install wood stoves but he doesn't know what he is doing. He doesn't know anything about proper roof framing for a wood stove installation either.

This business is lacking communication skills, professionalism, and Customer Service. If you are expecting them to provide expertise on work they’ve done that with in two years or provide service on brands that they sell and are listed as the local service agency on the manufacture’s website, I recommend you find someone else or go to an electrician directly.

So far I have bought a Komado Joe grill, an electric fireplace and hearth stone from these folks. Jeff and Tracy have to be the most knowledgeable and friendly people you have ever met! If you want to talk to people who really know their business come see the great team at Godfrey and Black
