This place has wonderful displays and the staff are very knowledgeable about these displays. The history of this place will take some time to take them all in.

The best small museum I've ever visited. The director, Betty, was of immense help in tracking down my Texas roots. She even found a cousin who still lives in Cherokee County. I highly recommend this museum.
Awesome field trip! The tour guide was full of great insights and information. The kids were allowed to wander and carefully touch items while asking questions. Covers from the Pioneers of the area to Vietnam with documentation, relics, photos, antiques and recreations! Hands on History at its best!
Very nice town Museum. Excellent displays and history of the town.
Newly re-designed in 2014!! Exhibits are arranged in a very artistic and interesting way. There are one-of-a-kind artifacts throughout the museum. The museum is open on Saturdays and Sundays, but private tours can be arranged during the weekdays. They also have a great Facebook page -- Heritage Center of Cherokee County, Texas. Hours and phone number is on the FB page. Very well organized and beautiful surroundings in historic downtown Rusk.
