On my way back from visiting family I stopped by to let the little ones burn off some energy. It was a little chilly but nothing a long sleeve shirt could stave off. Beautiful views of the lake and fun to just explore. I’ve been once before as a kid and rode the train. Unfortunately they were shut down, possibly COVID related but maybe just an off day. Definitely recommend even if your just looking to catch a few photos by the lake or get some fresh air.

Trains are running at 50 percent capacity and masks are required.Depot and grounds in Rusk are gorgeous. Depot in Palestine not so much (under construction).. train ride was neat. Trains themselves were amazing! They sell cocktails and non-alcohol beverages. They really need to work on the lunch preperation..food was terrible. All in all good experience. They are gearing up for Polar Express out of Palestine Depot. Sounds like it will be fun.

Love love love! The food on the train was great. The staff was excellent! The view on the ride most memorable. Got to eat our lunch at a small lake. They have the best little shops you can buy such unique and wonderful things!! We had the best anniversary day trip ever doing this.

We booked our tickets for last Saturday train ride and had a wonderful time on the train. The best part of the whole entire train ride experience was to our surprise the train getting robbed. We had no idea that was going happening and I almost didn’t book our tickets because we thought this might be a long boring train ride. We are riding along the tracks and all of a sudden you hear gun shots and see bank robbers on horses. Then the train stopped and all these bank robbers get on the train and start making their demands. After they ran back off the train they haf a gun fight with what looks like the sheriff. The gun shots all sounded so real! It was the best experience ever! They were freaking awesome!! Everyone on the train couldn’t stop talking about them and how much fun it was with the train robbers. The only suggestion I would highly recommend is advertising the train robbers because if we had known about this in advance we would’ve brought our 5 kids with us. All the people around us had no idea that was going to happen either. Can’t wait until the next time we can ride the train and have another bank robbing experience with the rest of our family.

We rode the train years ago with our two daughters (still in grade school) and we had a lot of fun. The girls really thought it was a neat experience. A couple of years later, my wife's folks were visiting us in Plano and they thought they would like the train too. We didn't think our daughters would be interested, but they were very excited to take the second trip. Everyone had a great time. During Father's Day this year, both daughters again expressed very pleasant memories of both trips (after all these years), so it is quite an experience to take this ride. By the way, we lived in Plano at the time and so it was a bit of drive to get there, but well worth it. I'm now retired in Ark, but am making plans for next year for all of us coming in from various states to take another ride just for old times sake. Not many rides like this any more, so if you haven't gone, you better get over to Palestine or Rusk while it is still operating. I do miss Texas too.
