Sal's is hands-down one of the best pizza places in the area. It honestly is a slice of NY in Newport News! I highly recommend them. Also, they have a huge list of lunch specials that includes items from the whole menu! The staff is extremely friendly too!

I went with a friend and my child. Destiny was the person that took care of us. She was very attentive and very helpful. There was also a spanish speaking person who would come around and check on us. Service was great and food was awesome. I love the pizza there and the calzone are also great.
RESPONSE TO THE “OWNER’s” horrible reply below: Ordered at 12:20pm; received an email confirmation; 1:42pm the delivery driver calls me to tell me he thinks he was at the right house but didn’t see a table on the porch to leave the pizza so he turned around and kept driving (?!? Incompetent?!); 1:55pm after giving him DIRECTIONS back to the house ..... we received our food (not what we ordered but they don’t care) And last time I checked, that’s over 90 minutes. Original review: Delivery took over 90 minutes, even after I called to check on the status. When finally arrived the order was wrong and I called the restaurant to let them know- only for the person who answered the phone to tell me I was wrong and what was delivered was correct; (eventually pulled my order in the system and realized what I told them was correct and the order WAS wrong). Food was also cold. This was the second occurrence of this, debated if the first time was a fluke but they’re consistent with poor service and we won’t be ordering from them again.
WRONG AND RUDE!!! The sarcastic young owner/manager (according to him), insisted that he made my pizza correct. What I asked for was their deluxe pizza, add bacon, ham, and meatballs to the entire pizza. Half of the pizza was supposed to be MEAT ONLY (as stated on the order form - 2nd half NO BLACK OLIVES, NO GREEN PEPPERS, NO MUSHROOMS, NO ONIONS) and then I added pineapples and tomatoes to the 1ST HALF (the half with everything on it). Does that picture look like what I ordered? NOPE!! For the customers who could hear him, he kept saying he made the order like I requested and he was trying to make me happy. What would have made me happy was for him to make the pizza as I requested. Instead, he refunded my money and insisted he made it like I ordered it. I left SALS in NEWPORT NEWS and picked up the pizza I ordered (Same Exact Order) at the SALS in HAMPTON. It was well worth the drive to get what I asked for and good service! I would have given NO STARS if that was an option!!!
What was wrong? Better question to ask would be what wasn't.. My family ordered dinner at 8pm today and our food finally arrived nearly 2 hours later. We ordered chips with our meal and received fries, and we were missing a drink. Safe to say, we won't ever be ordering from Sal's again.
Either they prepare every meal as if they're cooking for a professional food critic or I'm a lucky guy. We ordered cheesesteaks but they delivered mouth watering, absolutely delicious sandwiches that I wasn't prepared for. Tender tasty steak in a soft fresh bun. Magnificent!
Ordered over the phone an hour in advance. Showed up on time and they hadn't even started my order yet. When I asked about delay they were rude and aggressive. Will not be going back for mediocre italian. Edit to respond to owner: I was not told a driver took the order by mistake. It was implied that it was my fault my order was late because I ordered in advance and should have just ordered when I wanted it and that you got busy and had to make other orders first. When I tried to ask about status I was told 2-3 minutes. Not 30. I had groceries in the car I would have taken home if I'd known it would be another thirty mins. I get weekends are busy. That's why I ordered in advance.
