Great experience. Staff very friendly. Food is amazing. Loved the blueberry maple sausage. Hot mustard will clear your sinuses. Prices affordable. Atmosphere funky and enjoyable. Park on Alamo St to avoid paying for parking. Martin was an excellent waiter.

The oldest restaurant in San Antonio so it is a must see when you are visiting. I was pretty excited to go here because it is German. I was a little disappointed. It is fairly typical diner food, the setting is run down and dusty. The prices are low and the portions are big so it is a great diner for a family, but this place could be so much more. The service was good.

Exactly as expected from a diner that has been open for over 104 years. We ordered burgers and chicken sandwiches with fries. The burgers were typically what would be expected from a diner. Very thin and cheap but had good flavor. The chicken was moist and also had a good flavor. The fries were well seasoned. Our waiter, Hector, was very busy but did a decent job of taking care of our needs. We had to wait 10-15 to get our bill cashed out so I wished they had another way of paying the bill rather than just with the wait staff. The decor was nice and kept with the times of the age of the restaurant. The place was clean and so were the tables. We tried the Shilo Root Beer and it tasted exactly like root beer so don't expect a life change but for less than 2 it was worth the indulgence. Overall it was worth the stop at the self proclaimed 'Oldest Restaurant in San Antonio'.

I really liked everything. Their potato salad was okay. First time I had celery in potato salad. I would love to see the kind of German potato they have in Fredericksburg. Covid still making wait time a little long. Hopefully will get better.

Our dining experience was superb. It lived up to every bit of the hype. We had the chicken biscuit, fries, gravy, and the bloody marys. Our server was amazing, providing us with some history of the restaurant and how the dishes were hand prepared. This was by far one of the best chicken and biscuits I've ever had. The with the food being this good and the staff being as friendly as they were, I'm planning to eat there again before I leave San Antonio.
