My \office\ was an 8'x6' cubicle with no air. The ceiling fan never worked. Two months after I moved in, the owner started adding more offices and drilled a hole through the wall to pass a 220v extension cord. Soon after, rat droppings appeared in my office. So did the cockroaches. When I complained, the office \manager\ (the owner's daughter) suggested that I had left food in my office. Not true. I couldn't work 2 minutes in that office without being drenched in sweat. Instead, I used the conference room for business and for eating lunch. I always left the room as clean, if not cleaner, than before. I even brought in my own cleaning supplies when the \manager\ refused to provide any and said that cleaning offices was \beneath them\. At the beginning of 2020, the other office \manager\ (the owner's wife) began to stop coming into work at all. Deliveries made between 11am-3pm (the posted office hours) were often returned or left in the office for several days before being distributed. Some were taken to their own business a mile away and left there for nearly a week. At the same time, she forbade all food and drink in the conference room. Even bottled water was prohibited. Of course, she was hardly ever there to enforce this rule. In addition, the power had been cut off to most of the building, including my office. I could no longer print legally required forms. The office became virtually useless, though I was still obligated to meet the terms of my lease agreement. By March, they all but abandoned the property, putting up a sign that they would no longer staff the building \until further notice\.
