One of the best used record shops in the world. Incredibly diverse selection of genres from Blues to Turkish Funk to Musique Concrète alongside pop and rock favourites. Well organized, well priced and super friendly. Essential for vinyl lovers and crate diggers.

Folk Arts brings the joy back to record shopping. I spent my formative years wandering into record stores at home in NYC but especially when on tour and the great pleasure was thumbing through the racks and feeling able to take a risk. Then record stores started to close and the ones that remained focused only on new releases that cost 25 as vinyl saw a revival. Record shopping lost all of its appeal since I couldn't afford it anymore But we are temporarily living in San Diego and my father-in-law came to visit and I know he loves music. We were hanging out in North Park and this was a short walk so we figured we'd check it out. It's everything I want a record store to be: affordable, wide and unique selection, good music on the stereo. Any time I come in here I would feel great picking a record at random and taking a chance.

Amazing selection, just make sure to set some time to actually look through everything!

Favorite record shop in town. Amazing selection of every genre. Also buys your records and doesn't rip you off. One day I had to work late and needed gas money bad before payday. I called the store and the clerk stayed open 40 minutes past closing so I could sell my records. Also the record store of the Late, Great, Lou Curtis RIP. This dude spent his days bringing life to the SD music scene with Music Festivals and hosting Jazz Roots every Sunday night which I still miss, and that's barely scratching the surface. The walls of this place are packed with flyers of local music history. One of the few surviving local treasures in a town where change is constant and shops like this are endlessly shutting down.

Very abundant selection. They're always getting records in. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They traditionally greet those who enter.
