Eh. Jack Aubrey would have a stroke if he saw it! All kidding aside it's ok... But below decks should be setup more like an actual warship. The ship is in major disrepair... Which is kinda crazy considering how much they charge for the museum. This ship isn't really all that old... But compared to the Constitution it's in far worse shape.

Definitely a neat site to see at night when it's lit up! Conveniently you just drive up to the curb and snap a photo and go.

If you're a fan of the movie, you need to step aboard the Surprise. Very well kept, it's interesting to see how crews lived and worked at sea. The docent provides facts and figures about the ship and movie filming. Entrance fee is reasonable considering you see several ships and a Russian Foxtrot class cold war sub all for one price.

It's cool, but it's a replica. Also, the third photo I posted is not of the HMS Surprise but I'm not sure how to delete it :/

I first visited the "Surprise" a few years ago. I didn't think it was in great shape then and was sad to see how much it's deteriorated in the years since then. Keeping in mind that this is basically a movie prop, they should spend a little of the entrance fee on upkeep. They had a couple of kids as guides who had never heard of Jack Aubrey. They could have at least watched the movie or better yet, read the books.

It's cool but I expected the boat to be a bit more restored and better taken care of since there is a fee to see it.

Just a great visit... several ships to explore and a sub or two, where history is revealed!
