The cruise itself was pretty nice. We took the 90 minute cruise which takes you under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz a couple of times. It was beautiful, but it would have been better/worth the price if you could actually hear the audio tour. I don’t know if it was because the speakers were too old or if the volume was just too low, but with all the screaming children/families chatting loudly/even the sound of the engine, we could only hear about half the audio tour over the speakers when we were sitting right under them on the lower (quieter) deck. They could also do a better job of taking COVID seriously. This is even more frustrating because I asked specifically about what measures they were taking so we could be sure we were safe. They reduced capacity to 20%, which is great, but there were kids/teens and even some adults running around with no masks on/masks on their chins and getting way too close to you. There seemed to be no one there to actually enforce any physical distance/mask wearing rules. That was pretty disappointing. If you’re trying to not catch COVID, maybe pass on this until after the pandemic.
Best ferry ride I have ever been on. With social distancing the capacity was very low so made it easy to walk around the boat and see views from every angle. Very clean and well directed. Drinks are 10 each but the only downfall was the bartender was a little ruff and rude.
Sightseeing in San Francisco and we are glad we chose to take a boat ride on the bay. The captain was very informative. Driving on the roads of San Francisco were like roller coasters but it was nice to see from the water. The fare was fair. The boat was clean and staff was friendly. The kids enjoyed it as well.
Wonderful, educational tour. I've never seen the Golden Gate from underneath before. Nor have I ever been so close to Alcatraz. The audio tour is very educational and the boats large and clean. Good for families, singles, or even a date starter.
