DO NOT BRING A LAPTOP NOR A BACKPACK. Three stars for the people. People are nice and it was not hard for me to get my B1 work visa here.I wasn't allowed to go into the building with my laptop. I flew in from Seattle in the morning and planning to fly back at night. I am lucky that I have friends in the area so they cab store my backpack for me. If you are only planning to come for a day trip, make sure you are preparing for this! See the picture for the rules.

Thank you so much for your quick service! We sent our passports for an extension on Thursday and got them back on Monday. Also we liked, that consulate staff returned the documents in one envelope and took money only for one parcel (last year we got two separate envelopes and paid twice).
