Prize winners participate in a 10-day tour of San Francisco and Washington, D.C., for an awards ceremony and presentation, news conferences, media briefings, and meetings with political, public policy and environmental leaders.

I wish to give a huge THANK YOU to the providers of the Goldman Environmental Prize. I just finished watching a cable show sponsored by you and narrated by the actor Robert Redford for a no fish zone off the coast of Scotland. A most telling production and so close to home. The Skipper an Irish publication notified the Irish Fishermen of yet another giveaway of Irish fishermens rights to the Norwegian, Faroese and Spanish fleets. Their huge factory processing ships and trawlers dwarf the home fleet and yet Simon Coveney the minister for farming first of course, then fisheries has for the third time given away the quota to EU members to the detriment of Irish Fishermen and their families with no regard for the future. I am from Castletownbere, County Cork, Ireland. Fishing is a significant livelihood for the locals there. This show was excellent as it gave both sides of the coin of fishing and preservation from overfishing of the stock dependent upon to live. KQED kept me informed. Well done!
