The Omakase were great; very fresh and exquisitely plated (for take out, that’s an art by itself). We especially like the sea urchin and salmon roe dish. Never had such delicious one before.

I went for omakase at the bar last year, and it was simply fabulous. Their kaiseki style sushi is truly a rare gem in the city. What with the pandemic, they now have their omiyage, which roughly means a type of gift in Japanese. And what a gift indeed; it traveled well in our cooler to the other side of the bay and it is absolutely fantastic!

Very confused feelings about this place... If it were not for the giant half of a horse fly body we found under a piece of cod, I would've given 5 stars and come back again. I have photos of the fly but I would obviously not post it because I want this business to succeed. Also, we contacted their customer service and they were really helpful and responsive. They refunded us back 1/4 of the Omakase Set for 4 People and also all of our tip. Because of their excellent customer service and good quality food, I would not give them a low rating. We were unlucky with our order and it should be a rare occurence. As for the taste of the food, it was very authentic and I thouroughly enjoyed my meal. I've had higher end meals in Kyoto Japan and Kusakabe has reminded me of those flavors. The sashimi is fresh and definitely one of the better sources of fish out there. This place is price-y though but the uniqueness justifies the price.

During COVID, Kusakabe providing take out order in limited time per week. They all looks so fancy!!!! I love unagi and egg roll the best!!!! Definitely would love to come back and try others.
