I enjoy sitting in the courtyard under the trees, watching the squirrels, and cooling down during my walks downtown. The building is gorgeous. I highly recommend a walk in this area for any San Marcos visitor.

This non assuming courthouse in the middle of San Marcos makes the square here what all Texas towns strive to be. Some have relocated their courthouse to other locations thus distorting their downtown atmosphere. Or torn down the classic old buildings and replaced them with glass cubical (modern?) type structures. But not Hays County. I have photographed almost 100 courthouses across Texas , and I’m not even half way done yet. This was my first.
