Really like the XLB and Shanghai noodles here. It's just the right level of spiciness. And btw this place is super nice to your wallet. Affordable and good. So what's not to like

We're a party of two. We arrived around 7pm on a quiet Tuesday night. We sat down immediately. No frills, very casual. I'd bring friends or family here, but not a date. If you're looking for the "local" feel, this place is it. They serve a variety of dumplings (they are called "Pastries" in their menu - must be a translation thing). The dumplings are relatively big portions, good amount/quantity, and JUICY! I saw many customers order only dumplings, and I can see why. They are good! Skip the noodle soups. They are served in large-ish bowl, not enough noodles, and not enough meat, but lots of soup! They are over-seasoned/salty. But that's what makes them tasty. If you're sensitive to salt/sodium, might be a good idea to order something else. Customer service can be improved. There was only one guy working the front of the house. I gotta hand it to him - he's very fast (he was literally running at one point) to bring out the food and good at multi-tasking! Street parking can be a challenge on El Camino Real. We got lucky and found parking on the side street, half a block away. The neighborhood is safe. I'd come back again - but only for the juicy dumplings. Enjoy!

Surprised at how delicious everything was. The sticky rice dumplings were especially good: light, airy, umami flavor, and thin skins. A quiet little family place with interesting decor. Happy to go back!

Feel transported to Shanghai. Uniquely prepared dishes - their chili wanton had deep fried peanut that made it irresistible! The scallion noodle had actual fried green onions. 100% recommend their dumplings and noodles.

Good price, but it stops there. The 红油抄手 needed more filling (it was practically flat). We wanted to get 生煎 but they were out. The 雪菜黄鱼面 was alright but smelled fishy; ie it wasn't fresh at all. Probably won't go back.

I'm shocked at the great reviews for this place. A very awkward unpleasant experience for dinner. The servers barely spoke and I felt like they didn't want customers. Two bowls of noodles came out 30 and 40 min after we ordered. They were some store bought noodles floating in water, with some bok choy. Should have taken them 5 min max to make. I had vegetarian noodles and everything tasted canned. General cleanliness was not there. Never going back.

I might have misordered with my pork soup. It was decent but nothing to write home about. The fried noodles looked amazing so I'll give it another go.

Very authentic Shanghai restaurant with all the side dishes you don't often find in places that skew more Western to attract the general populace and the best juicy dumplings (shaolongbao) I've had in months. Affordable pricing, the noodles that look on the menu like individual dishes are family sized for sharing. For 5*'s I would have liked a more complete dim sum selection or few more non-noodle based mains which is probably nitpicky for a place called "Noodle Shanghai" but there it is.
