Awesome, friendly staff, worth a visit, kids loved all the tanks, vehicles and helicopters they could jump in.

This place is special. Had so much more than I ever imagined. It’s been on my list of places to visit for quite some time. Decided to play hooky from work this morning and take a drive down. Has some amazing displays that cover the history of Camp Roberts as well as all kinds of military history. It’s current and well run. The docents were full of information.

A very complete military museum chronicling the beginning of the post in WWII, to present day. There is the main museum and an annex with Armor, helicopters and larger set pieces. Docents are mostly people who at some point in their military careers served at Camp Roberts. Fun fact is that a large percentage of old Hollywood went through basic training here. Well worth seeing. Proof of auto insurance and valid ID required to enter Camp Robert's, as any military installation requires these days.

Great place to learn about the hustle and bustle of Camp Roberts during WWII. Many famous personalities stopped by to entertain the troops. If you have an hour and your on the central coast, stop by. The local historians would love to share their knowledge with you.

The museum staff were very friendly and helpful. They let my 4 yr old son get on all the vehicles. He would have been able to get into the many tanks they have there, but it was raining outside. Will go back for sure.
