Great day tandem flying with Willy on February 1, 2020. First time flyer and more than a little bit nervous. Willy's professionalism, attention to detail and outstanding instruction and experience as an instructor made the butterflies go away. Serene and exhilarating at the same time if that is possible. Highly recommend Willy and Fly Away for what for me was an experience of a lifetime.
I decided to try a tandem hang gliding excursion on January 1, 2020. I figured, what a more exhilarating way to start the new year! I called Willy the day before, and he explained that we would only be able to fly if the wind conditions were right. Fortunately enough, it was a perfect day to fly! Willy was incredibly good at explaining what to expect, without being intimidating, or making me feel scared. He took my cues during our flight, always checking to make sure I was ok, and not feeling nauseous or anything. I was game for everything! So, we soared and caught the wind just right for a long, delightful ride. I can’t recommend Willy highly (no pun intended) enough. Personable and knowledgeable, he will put you at ease immediately!
Do yourself a favor and see Santa Barbara from the sky! Amazing experience. Willy is very professional and safe. Definitely one of the best moments of my life and a bucket list item checked off. I'd go again in a heartbeat.
For my 53rd birthday, I treated myself to a tandem, first-time hang glide. Willy was great! He cared enough to push off one day due to bad wind, and then when we went up to the beautiful take off area, he patiently explained, showed, and guided me through everything. The takeoff was simple, the landing was nothing at all, and the flight itself...heavenly. I strongly recommend this to all.

Willy is incredible to work with! He took as much time as we needed to explain everything in detail prior to take-off, and made us feel at ease with everything ! Smooth landing too!! The views from the SB Mountains were out of this world beautiful! Highly recommend entrusting Willy.
I got my hang 2 with Willy spring of 2018. Willy is an amazing hang glider and an even better instructor. As a pretty petite girl who's never been terribly athletic I wasn't sure if I would even be able to pick up hang gliding. But with plenty of help and support I ended up having the best time and left with solid novice skills and a huge confidence boost. :) Willy really has a knack for picking out the bits of technique you can adjust to get through every rough patch. After each flight we'd go over what could be better and he'd always be ready with often several suggestions of what I might try differently next time. He's always happy to answer questions and provides sound & simple to understand explanations of the basic principles that help a lot in building intuition. The long days of perfect flyable conditions and drop dead gorgeous view from the training hill help too. Pretty much the best thing ever. :)
