I graduated from SCIL in June, 1995; passed the Bar in February, 1997. Absolutely great experience for adults who work full time, are persistent and motivated to attend evening classes after working all day, and have the ability to set aside MOST weekends to complete lessons, case briefs, and study the law (not necessarily easy unless persistence and motivation are present for the ENTIRE 4 years it takes to attend part-time evening classes to obtain a Law Degree). My work primarily involves representing clients in disputes with the IRS. I’ve been licensed by the California Bar since 1998; I’m a licensed CPA in Texas, New Mexico and Indiana; I am an Enrolled Agent authorized to practice before the IRS; and I’ve been admitted to litigate before the U.S. Federal Tax Court since 2006. What I particularly liked about SCIL was that my Instructors were not “ivory tower professors” who spent a significant portion of their professional careers researching and writing about obscure legal subjects that most “hands-on Legal Practitioners” don’t give a hoot about. My SCIL Instructors were full time practicing Lawyers involved in real legal problems on a daily basis - and they brought that expertise into the classroom. I believe SCIL was a superb investment and definitely provided more “bang” for the “bucks” than I actually spent. Ron L. Scott, Atty-at-Law, CPA, EA
