I paid for a 2 hr surf lesson with Todd and I gotta say I had an awesome experience for it being my first time surfing. Todd made sure to explain everything to me clearly and with a true teacher’s spirit. I feel like the adjustments he had me do in the water after noticing my tendencies helped me a lot in actually riding the wave as well as helped my confidence on my next attempts. Overall, the whole crew that greeted me were great people, sociable, and laid back. (And I loved their cocker spaniel). I would definitely pay for more lessons in the future if I get the chance.

Phenomenal time! I am not a beginner surfer and was looking to fine tune some skills and learn some new ones. I also ended up getting the photo package. The whole session was worth every penny. Good photos and I did pick up a few good pointers to improve my surf. You could tell sharing the stoke with the beginner surfers and the experienced surfers was all Marty's passion. Marjan took some great photographs and the communication with the team throughout booking and experience was great. I was only in town for one day, but will definitely be back. I've taken 3 lessons with Kapowui so far (once with Liam and twice with Todd) and my surfing experience has been super awesome every time. The instructors have a lot of knowledge to share about the waves and how to surf. I had a great time in the water with them and they give feedback on every attempted wave which really helped to remind me what to focus on. I asked tons of questions to help me visualize and understand the wave science and they had answers for all of them which was super helpful. I would definitely recommend Kapowui over other schools that were just kinda \meh\ in my opinion.

I've taken surf lessons in multiple cities from multiple groups and Kapowui was by far the best. We went over all the foundations from what part of the surfboard is what, and how to stand on it/turn to mastering each part of the pop up before getting into the water. Then, when we did, surfing was much easier for me than ever and it felt like second nature. The staff is also so friendly that even people on the beach who weren't taking a lesson with them and asked them questions got answers and they couldn't have been happier to help. Would never take another lesson anywhere else. It was fun, I learned a lot, and feel way more comfortable on a surf board. Don't forget to add their photographer to your lesson - she takes amazing pics! A

Awesome experience. Good for complete beginners and if you have had a few sessions already. Todd had good energy, patience and helpful tips. Worth it!
