This is a four star golf course, with a one star staff. My girlfriend and I played at Morrison Lake for the first time last Sunday. We made a tee time for 12:42 pm, made the hour-long drive to Saranac, and arrived 20 minutes before our time, thinking we'd hit a few putts on the practice green before going out. Well, we spent all of that 20 minutes plus several more in line in the clubhouse, watching while the staff prepared food, drinks, etc. before getting us out. We were started on the back 9, which we were fine with. However, when we arrived on the tee (20 to 30 minutes past our tee time, mind you), there were two foursomes and a FIVESOME ahead of us. We waited another 30 to 40 minutes and went off.
The golf course was in great shape, interesting design on the front and back, greens were consistent and well groomed. We really enjoyed the way the course played. My only caveat to this would be the following: if you don't like blind shots, stay away, as there are a number of them. Personally, I rather enjoy a blind shot here and there, and I found it quite fun. Considering the backup, speed of play was pretty good. Until we got to the turn. At that point, the staff again stacked us up, allowing a group to start ahead of the group ahead of us, who were also making the turn. The staffer then tried to start ANOTHER group in front of us, but we protested, and the staffer quickly relented, thank god.
Once we were off on the front, it was again a very enjoyable experience.
To summarize, we both greatly enjoyed the golf course, but will be very hesitant to return, considering the inability to manage tee times and groups on the course.
