A visit to the Soo Locks is a must! The majesty of these giant steel vessels gliding in and out of the locks is beautiful and an engineering marvel. There are also great things to do in the area, the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum is a short drive away. There are great places to stay and eat in a very charming historic downtown. I would definitely recommend Sault Ste Marie for a family and kid friendly vacation.

How the head of the Sault Ste. Marie Convention & Visitors Bureau handles someone leaving a review of the truth (see screen-cap), She blocked me immediately after this. Still never asked why I left a one-star, never inquired the reason and still didn't ask what evidence I have to elicit a low review like this. A good example of the corruption that plagues the city of good 'ol boys and girls trying to control people by fear; I'm just being honest from what I've experienced. That's the responsibility of a local guide is to be honest and review/comment about the experiences I've had. Pull back the curtain of the wizards who have had all the power until someone comes along who doesn't have an agenda, can't be bought and can't be strong-armed.

An amazing destination, with so many unique attractions and things to do, and the people are so friendly and welcoming. A must do is the Soo Locks Boat Tours, giving you the opportunity to experience going through the Soo Locks, and taking a trip up the St. Mary's River. Many great restaurants and places to stay in the area. There are also great attractions that are just a short drive away (Tahquamenon Falls, Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, Whitefish Point, Point Iroquois Lighthouse). Locally, be sure to visit the Museum Ship Valley Camp, Tower of History and is you're feeling lucky, the Kewadin Casino!
