This historic site is a MUST SEE on your trip to Savannah, GA. The guides are informative and entertaining. The views of the Savannah River are spectacular! You might even see Bald Eagles flying above you!

I spent a good two hours exploring this fort. I love how Savannah has preserved much of its history. Super friendly staff. Willing to answer all of your questions. Enjoyed watching the actors drum roll in, and shoot off their musket rifles. The actors we're also very informative with the history of Old Fort Jackson. They even sounded off the large Cannon, not the small ones in remembrance of Independence Day. Highly recommend if you're into history. Just make sure you bring some bug spray for your arms and legs. Those insects were biting!

Visited this place on an 8th grade field trip back in 2003 don’t remember to much. Went back on March 7th 2021 and it was awesome, the re-enactment was incredible the speaker did a great job engaging the visitors and the history and knowledge was fantastic to hear and learn. I felt as if we went back in time for the whole show. I would recommend this to anyone who has kids or loves history.

The history here is able to be felt in the air. As you stand in the spot where men fought and died you can FEEL a presence there. It was so overwhelming at some points I was nearly brought to emotions. The reality of what went on there, the men who stood up for what they believed in to the point where they were willing to lay down their lives for it....its inspiring!! You will NOT be sorry for this trip!! DO IT!

I really enjoyed walking this fort. The location is self guided and really interesting. There is a small gift shop on the premises. So much history here and one cool thing is you can see an old ship that has been sunk nearby at low tide. The ship was attempted in recovery, but extremely costly and the project was given up on to excavate. My son enjoyed visiting this fort and learning g the history it held.
