Modern clean facility with a fantastic staff. The group exercise classes are diverse (Spin, Yoga, Zumba, etc), motivating, and fun. The pool and aquatics program is located at the Sch High School. The Schenectady Y is also focused on supporting the community through Youth Development and Social Responsibility.

I always enjoy working out and playing basketball here :). Question though, did u guys remove your stationary resistance bike and if so can u try to get another one?

Needs better air circulation. No pool at this location. Pool at Schenectady HS that can be used by YMCA members is extremely cold. I bought swim lessons when my son was about 1 year old. He could not tolerate the water temperature, as the other young children in the class couldn’t either. We tried attending twice but then never went back and lost out on the fee for the class. The young instructor for the class was not qualified to teach, didn’t do much and didn’t get in the pool. I complained but never heard back on any of my complaints. The air circulation at this YMCA is poor. It smells bad when it’s crowded. In the childcare room for children of parents working out, the staff don’t interact playfully with the children. I won’t bring my son there because it’s not well run. I don’t trust the way the staff interact (or don’t interact) with the kids. The facility itself is new and very nice. The equipment is all in good shape. The place looks neat & clean. The bathrooms are always clean. I like that they have free coffee and tea.

I used to work upstairs so it was very convenient. It's smaller then most gyms in the area but very nice equipment. No pool in this location.

Lifting equipment is in good shape but there isn't much of it -- one power rack, for instance. The people who work there are nice enough, but perhaps too nice; they won't confront the gym hogs, so good luck if someone's on the machine you need for an hour.
