Very cool to see the locks in action. The gardens on the east side are beautiful and the salmon ladder and viewing area on the west side are really cool too. Sadly there is a big homeless presence on the west side of the park that keeps it from feeling safe or clean.

It’s quite an interesting attraction. It’s like the Panama Canal but on a small scale. The area is also great for having a picnic, strolling around, walking your dog and bird watching.

The Locks themselves are beautiful and interesting as well. Watching the boats or all sizes going through as well as making your way to the fish ladder to see if there any salmon coming through, everyone will enjoy something about the place.

Had a great time and saw the Salmon fry/smolt closer to the Ballard Locks Fish Ladder area than further down the park area. Ballard Locks Fish Ladder is actually closed (possibly during covid) but you can watch the fish from the park. Kids will enjoy seeing them too. We also got to see a seal swimming around. Nice place to see the salmon, sit and relax. The Salmon Bay Bridge was drawn during our time there too. There were a few people kayaking in the area too.

I visit most days since the botanical garden re-opened after the pandemic stay at home order was lifted. This place is a much needed oasis with the trials we've faced this year. Some things to enjoy: walking the paths, looking at the trees, plants, flowers and listening to birdsong.
