This was a cool spot: knowledgable staff, a good variety of books, and tons of poetry! And I love that they have their own in-house publishing company! They had an entire wall of bookshelves dedicated to their own authors. If you love books, you must stop by!
Adorable little shop. Fair prices, especially when the 50 cart is outside! Owner is very friendly and nice to chat with. Definitely worth a visit when you're in the neighborhood. Edit 8/31/18: I'm so sad for the loss of Mercer Street Books' owner, Debbie. She was a kind soul who created such a warm, inviting space. I will miss her, as will her family, staff, and other repeat customers.
Creaking staircases, the smell of old wood intermingling with brand new books, posters with tattered edges and missing corners slapped hap-dash across the walls... This place is everything you could hope for in a book shoppe. The very atmosphere seems to harken back to the days of civil unrest and unruly writing, jovial jazz wafts in from the alley, and, if you visit quite late at night, there's always a stranger or two with an interesting story to share...
love this cute one
