Wheelchair-accessible entrance
It's quite scary coming out of the main entrance as the street corner is full of weirdos/hobos even during the mid afternoon. Most certainly would take care not to be hanging around the area after dark. Our hotel concierge even took pains to mention that we should avoid the area at night! Otherwise, Pioneer Square are is quite charming on the whole

Nice and clean! I feel safe because of transportation security!
Okay the ambience here is not great. Think inner city. Not really that much of an issue, in my opinion. If you want handicapped accessiblity. At least as of now, it isn't. If you can use the escalator up, you can get out. The elevator doesn't work. If you go back, there is no escalator down AND THE ELEVATOR DOESN'T WORK. So, take the steps. Sigh. ELEVATOR REPAIR SHOULD BE HIGH PRIORITY. It doesn't doesn't appear to be a priority. Sigh.
People gather in groups, yelling, and smoke marijuana on the surface entrance. Strong smell of urine on walls and always look dirty. Be prepared to get harrased when walking pass the station at night.
Easy walk to all amenities and ferry terminal. Nice area. The square is a great place for a break
