Lovely ambience and delicious food! I docked one star for the overall ordering experience and portion size. Because of COVID restrictions, they are making you order online which is good, but the online ordering experience is bad and can use some revamping. Portion size is small for the price you pay but that is true for many places like this so not a big deal. Just that I was left hungry after paying 80 bucks.

Love the chirashi and ocean salad here. Great atmosphere. The usual wait seems to be about 45 minutes.

Modern Japanese aesthetics are on point. The prices are very reasonable, especially being on Capitol Hill. The 3 by 3 bento box showcasing a gamut of small appetizers (think the size of your palm). It was aesthetic, delicious and most importantly - creative. The presentation of each dish was beautiful. Each square featured different flavors & textures-- half of them were a surprise The curry was the perfect blend of spices and was really just perfect. My friend got the Katsu Curry and I had a bite of it... it was out of this world!!!!!! I have never had Katsu give me so much happiness after having one piece, which was really thick and big compared to other restaurants that serve Katsu Curry.

Mapo tofu was decent and the plating was different but cool.

This is a fantastic Japanese izakaya style bar. The decor is fantastic. I had a whiskey highball with ginger in it that was amazing, highly recommend. I also ordered a sashimi style bento box which was really good. They have real Japanese people working there and it's fun to talk to them in Japanese

Been there once and thought the food was mediocre and it’s more of a drinking place that serves food. This weekend lunch has changed my perception! The SRW weekend lunch set was beautifully presented and the sequence of the food was thoughtfully arranged from mild flavor to heavier tasting ones. Food is delicious and sashimi is of good quality. The fried shrimp with garlic oil is simply delectable. Fatty tuna and salmon sashimi melts in your mouth leaving a trail of full creamy flavors. The short rib is tender and rich. One of SRW best lunch offerings! I gave four stars as the service is average and the sitting of not comfortable.

Loved the whole modern Japanese vibe going on with this place. We ordered the sashimi sampler and thought that the price was very reasonable given the amount of food we received. I also liked how ordering and paying is now online with the dine in option.

Visited Tamari bar once long ago in the before COVID times and came back again during restaurant week to try their Sakura Shokado box. It. Was. So. Good. I don't know where to begin, the beef, the unu shooter, the variety of sashimi, the duck, the tempura, all super delicious. I'm still thinking of that box. If you enjoy sushi and want to treat yourself, get this box.
