Amazing State Park with hiking trails, boat launches and campgrounds. The hiking trail around the lake is closed for the hunting season though. Eating lunch on the dam was a memorable experience. I will be coming back to camp in the spring.

The state park looks exceptionally beautiful in the autumn season. Please be aware that Google may push you there if you are looking for a camping site. The camp site actually is at Canvasback Cove (on the other side of the Shabbona Lake). But anyway, the park is worth to be seen. It may be very attractive in the summer.

A very beautiful lake setting with plenty of room to relax. And go hiking or fishing. The campground is also very nice. With large wooded spot and large fire rings.

We go here alot. It's a beautiful place to take dog walks, kayaks, fishing poles, and we hope in the future our horses. Each season is different. It's well maintained. Thiers a boat rental and a bait and tackle shop. Also the restaurant is fun in the summer and fall.

One of my favorite places to camp in IL. Reserve in advance to save the headache of walk-up availability. This campground is large and can get crowded during the warmer months. There are primitive toilet facilities and the sites are well maintained. There are a few \accessible\ sites that have concrete parking and surfaces. There are sites for almost all equipment. I am not aware if primitive camping is allowed. The campground is in a fantastic location next to the lake and trails. It's so easy to go out into the park and then walk right back to your site! Despite this being a favorite location of mine, the wonder of nature can get lost at this campground as it can be crowded, loud, and visitors have a regular habit of dumping garbage into the fire pits and leaving it. Additionally, alcohol is not allowed at any time and the campground hosts/monitors commonly check for this even if you aren't a NIU student trying to party. If this is your first time camping, Lake Shabbona is a great spot to get your feet wet and start a family tradition of spending time outside together!
