Good route setting & a fun gym. However, it is very expensive, and the pricing feels exclusionary in comparison to other area gyms, past and present. This exclusionary feeling is compounded by the fact that it is the closest place for Clevelanders to access indoor, roped climbing. Further, it seems that other Ohio gyms of similar caliber, configure their prices to be about the same ( / - 20), but offer more in return (e.g. more than 1 facility, better training tools). To clarify this point, I've always been treated well by people and staff in the building. If you need a place to train for outdoor climbing, you certainly don't need big roped walls & a fancy facility to accomplish this. If you are price conscious, I would recommend a day pass or punch pass strategy, for 1-2x / month visit for roped climbing in the winter months. Otherwise, stick with the cheaper membership and personable feel of Cleveland's bouldering gyms. If you love to rope climb 2-4x a week, then it's worth it.

Wow, really liked this one, a good combination of beginner climbs, and all the way to the difficult ones, the auto belays did not have any significant wait times. The bouldering options are really great. Friendly staff and clean facility. Took my sisters who've never climbed before and they loved it. Great for all ages.

Staff is super chill. Bouldering section is a good size and the routes are great. The grading seems slightly more difficult compared to some other gyms. We brought a few friends who were complete beginners and they struggled even with the v1 routes, but if you have even minimal experience you'll find plenty of challenging and interesting routes to try. Wall is 40ft high and there are plenty of top roap and lead routes to try. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to get into climbing or is already an experienced climber

Absolutely fantastic! As someone who had never entered a climbing gym before, I can say that this gym helps you feel comfortable. There are several options for new people that provide a great intro. I was a bit anxious, but that quickly went away with the super friendly person checking me in. I did the \a taste of climbing\ which was a great first experience for me. A generous hour with a guide to show you the setup and options at the gym. Effectively, an hour of unhindered climbing and learning on all the different options they provide (there are many). Turns out my \guide\ was the owner, Annie. She was great to chat with and made me feel at home. That is clearly the vibe she's worked to create at Shaker Rocks...family. There seemed to be super serious and casual folks alike, which was really cool. A ton of variety for any type of climbing or traditional gym workouts. I now feel confident in heading in at any time and would be able to navigate and have fun easily. When our daughter is old enough, I can imagine that this will become a family affair. Oh, it was a great workout too. Don't hesitate, give it a go.

I went to Shaker Rock Gym specifically for their bouldering area and was very impressed. There were a ton of routes with varying difficulties so anyone with any experience level will have something to do. I've only been climbing for 2 months and maxed out at their V4 level, whereas I usually max out around V3 at other bouldering gyms. They have the softest padding for their mats of any gym I've been to which is helpful because these are some of the tallest bouldering walls I've seen at a climbing gym and at the upper limit of what I feel comfortable climbing. All in all I had a great time and will definitely be back soon.
