Beautifully difficult hike, the trail is good, the views spectacular. The uphill climb and altitude makes it difficult. It is worth it. I'm 68 and on the way down a little boy asked me, \Did you make it all the way\, I told him I did and he could too!

Wow, seriously one if the best view hikes in recent memory. Snow on the ground July 1St still made for tricky spot 3/5 the way up. Family friendly five mile round trip, our 8 year old did it no problem. Wonderful eating lunch up at the lookout. Better views than Castle Peak and that's another great hike. Much less busy trail and that's how we prefer it. We are coming back for sure. Not a technical hike, there was a well equipped 70 year old couple that made it to fire lookout in about 2.5 hours. Must add to your short list of you live in Nor Cal.

A tough hike considering the snow that covered the trail. I will return next spring/summer for a redo.
