Went in last week to upgrade from a standard concealed carry permit to the South Dakota Enhanced Permit to Carry Concealed, which would allow me to carry concealed into 38 states 39 if you count SD. Including MN, NE, WI, IA, and many more.. The Minnehaha County Sheriff's office staff was very helpful, and the process to apply for a CCW permit is quick (takes about one week for new applicants) and, more importantly it is a secure process - new applications are submitted to the SD Division of Criminal Investigation for review, to ensure that our second amendment rights are privileged to the sane and competent, which is exactly how it needs to be in this day and age.

Only time I have had contact with a deputy was when I called them to a friends house, when I thought their house was broken into. Although I couldn't pull up my friends cell number because my phone was dead, the sheriff's office tracked their number down to let them know they were at their house. Very professional.
