SOAR Academy takes kids that don't fit in the box and meets them where they are in an amazing expedition boarding program. SOAR's academic program is adapted for each child to ensure success and increased self-esteem. The expeditions teach perseverance and outdoor skills. My son has grown socially, personally, and academically and I can't recommend SOAR more.

I attended The Academy at SOAR several years ago, I will forever be grateful for the experience they provided. From the instructors all the way to the top of the administration, they are genuinely focused on seeing the student/camper succeed, have confidence, and develop leadership skills at a young age. As a person with learning disabilities I very much benefited from the learning style of the Academy. Unlike many other schools you always have plenty of time to have a dialogue with your teachers in order to get help with any issues you may have on a topic. You can always count on the instructors to support you academically on the days you are on expeditions as well. At the end of my journey with SOAR I felt like a completely different person with the skills and confidence they inspired in me. I cannot recommend SOAR enough for prospective students, it is an experience unlike any other.
Our son has attended SOAR camp in NC for the past two years and cannot wait to go back. They provide a safe and supportive experience that is unprecedented for ADHD kids. It's taught him so many important skills and allowed him to feel like part of a the SOAR camp family. We are so incredibly grateful that this special camp exists.
In my experience as an educator and coach for parents worldwide, there is no camp better suited than SOAR to meet the needs of complex kids who learn best outside of a traditional classroom. SOAR turns the natural world into the best classroom on the planet, providing an extraordinary opportunity for kids to learn about themselves, to practice self-management, and to grow in confidence and independence. SOAR's faculty is extremely well qualified (many are teachers), and well trained (in one summer my daughter learned more as a staff member than most practitioners learn in graduate school!). I recommend SOAR to all of my community when they ask about a safe place for their kids to go to summer camp. It's more than just a camp. It's an opportunity for complex kids to learn to trust themselves and see all that they're capable of achieving. Ten stars on a five star scale, for sure!
My son has been to many camps over the years, but SOAR is hands down the best! He's now been to 4 sessions. The staff and counselors are all top notch, and really understand kids with ADHD. The program instills confidence and supports independence through engaging, exciting and challenging adventures and experiences. The bonds my son formed in one of the longer sessions (Academic Discovery) have lasted and boys from his group are regularly in touch even now. SOAR may just be the best thing I've ever done for my son!
Best Summer Camp Experiences! My ADHD daughter has attended five summer and winter break camps at SOAR in North Carolina and in the Florida Keys. The camps were incredible - well-organized, super fun, and structured to enable campers to find success. She was able to relax, be herself, and shine within the structure that SOAR provided her. I was able to relax knowing she was safely having fun and growing into a more independent and responsible person. Transformative. I also highly recommend the SOAR website for ADHD and LD webinars, which have helped our parenting along the way.
SOAR Summer Camps take kids who spend the whole year feeling like they "can't" and involves them in activities that show them YES THEY CAN! Children who have ADHD and/or LD often suffer from low self image. SOAR Summer Camps provide the right balance of positivity, goal setting, responsibility and accountability so children authentically start to improve their self image. I whole-heartedly recommend SOAR Summer Camps!
