I remember a VERY different Starlight Drive-In of the 1950's. I grew up from 1948 to 1962 on Merced Ave. between Klingerman and Rush. My parents bought an old farm house there on a half acre of Walnut trees in 1946. My dad would take me to the Starlight to see the current movies. It was brand new back then, and BIG! It drew quite a crowd, and we always had to wait in a line of cars. The sign out front is the original, and when I was a kid it was lit, and the little stars would go on and off in sequence. It was beautiful. El Monte was considered one city until 1958 when South El Monte incorporated. Prior to that we lived in the county. It was called Alhambra Rural by the post office. Our postman delivered mail on a motor scooter! My dad's taxes went up, too! We drank our own well water, and grew all manor of fruit and vegetables on that property we would share with our neighbors. Some corn ALWAYS went to Mrs Cruz for her homemade tortillas! OMG I can still smell, and taste them! All that's left now is an old man's fond memories of places and people long gone! May God bless and keep all of them.

Find what you need and good prices.just have to watch the few vendors who want store prices
Awesome finds here. It’s best to wait an hour or two after opening. Vendors take a short while to setup.
Great place to go lots of food and candies over all a great place
You have got to try this hidden treasure. It's a place where CASH is King. The vendors are willing negotiate best deals. I go on Sundays after Church. Bring your comfortable walking shoes. Most times it's live music and dancing. It's a great place for families too. The one dollar entry fee is worth it. Knowing Spanish will be a plus for shoppers. Free parking.
