In the wake of COVID-19 the museum is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all. In accordance with Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, all of our staff will be wearing masks and promoting social distancing. Other steps that we are taking to keep everyone safe include providing a hand washing station and hand sanitizer for use by our guests. We will be cleaning surfaces regularly around the grounds and cleaning cars after each trip.  To ensure we can properly clean our equipment between each trip,  the museum will be running all trains on a schedule with departures every hour from our Castlemuir Station on the museum grounds in South Elgin, IL. Trains will depart at 11:00 am, 12:00 pm, 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Trains will be limited to 10 passengers per trip until restrictions put in place by the Governor are lifted. Tickets for these trips can still be purchased on a walk-up basis.  The health and safety of our guests and staff are our top priority in these times. We ask that our guests please wear masks while visiting and adhere to social distancing guidelines of staying at least 6 feet away from others. Washing hands or using hand sanitizer after touching surfaces is highly recommended. An important part of keeping everyone safe is that if you or any member if your party experience any COVID-19 symptoms, such as coughing, fever, difficulty breathing, or other flu-like systems, to please stay home. It is up to everyone to keep each other safe and healthy and that all starts with you! The museum has come up with many other procedures, which we will be following in the coming months. As restrictions are lifted or put back in place, we will be adapting, as appropriate new procedures, and we will be sure to keep everyone up to date with the latest information.
