Jeff Hoxtell at Air Padre in South Padre Island, TX, is the place to go for kiteboarding lessons. Jeff gave me the best instruction to date. The radio in the helmet is state of the art giving the student real-time instruction on the fly. No need to worry the other kites in the trading area, Jeff takes you out by boat ensuring a safe and private session. I felt my progress accelerate exponentially. I’d highly recommend Jeff and Air Padre. I know I’ll be back as soon as I can for more lessons.

Jeff was the man, he hooked me up with lessons that were fire, and then got my wife (for her first time) a fantastic female instructor who blew her out of the water. (Hahaha) Then we upgrade some gear down there too, and Jeff went out of his way to make me happy with the gear selection, including doing a binding swap through the mail in a new board I picked up. This dude gets it, at all skill levels. We will do another trip out after covid, and I have no doubt all my money will go to this guy's shop. Legit best instructor I've ever met! Had a great kiteboarding lesson with Jeff. I wanted to work on staying upwind and starting transitions. He had patient, clear, advice and explanations which he was able to communicate to me over the radio headset. He was very fair on the pricing and patiently worked with me around my work schedule and some difficult wind conditions. I would absolutely recommend lessons with him.

I brought my family to South Padre from Utah to learn to kiteboard. Jeff met us the first day and was calm and patient as my daughter wrapped his trainer kite around a tall light pole. Over the next 5 days, he quietly taught my wife, son and daughters the basic skills of the sport. By the last day, all had ridden hundreds of yards with their new skill and were so excited to enter the water confidently and get up and going with their kite and board. I am very grateful for the experience we had and that we can now share a great time as a family. Thanks Jeff.

My husband and I took kiteboarding lessons from Jeff and we loved every minute of it! First we got comfortable flying the kite on the beach. Once we got in the water it was AMAZING! My husband mastered the water skills quickly. I had a harder time getting the kite off the water. The impressive part was Jeff’s patience and ease of instruction despite my frustration! Jeff took us out on his boat and put us in the water. He put a headset on us before we got into the water so that way he can continue to coach us while we are in the water. It was great. We bought a trainer kite to practice on our own and he gave us a great price plus a few bucks off here and there. What a great guy! Air Parde is definitely THE place to take lessons.
