Just stopped in to take a look at the n64 games and original xbox games. Was immediately asked if I needed quarters for the arcade games. I said no, I wanted to look around with my wife and kids. I looked at the impressive comic book collection in the glass case while my kids looked at the very cool retro arcade games. The store associate then told me that since we weren't playing the games that we needed to leave. The store had an estimate of 25 patrons while we were there and the majority were checking out the vinyl selection. My 2 star review is only for the confusing notion about what transpired. We were in the store for a total of 3 minutes. My kids were very respectful with the arcade games, in fact they thought it was awesome since they never get to see an arcade. I dont feel it's fair to give them a 1 star since the inventory is massive and the store is very clean and well organized, but the customer service was very odd and off-putting. Maybe they don't want business from a family with little (albeit well behaved and respectful) children. Best of luck to them in the future, but I will not be returning, nor would i recommend them. I can't recommend anywhere to get vinyls since I dont collect them, but if you are looking for retro video games, look at estarland in Chantilly or Super Bit video games in Falls Church. Great customer service, selection, and they definately make you feel welcome.

The ultimate in retro: Springfield Town Center, once the Springfield Mall that was my teen hangout of reference, has a record store... With real vinyl for sale. Wife got me a composite phonograph a few years ago, mostly as a way to play the records that I've carried around with me for 20 years. R&R gives me a way to add to my collection. Only some people will get this. After all, you can get any music you want with a click of a smartphone. So why go to the record shop at the mall? BECAUSE I CAN! I can relive the glory days of flipping thru bins of hair bands and giant dashiki-clan horn ensembles, and it's fun. Last time I was thru I wanted Metallica, but they were sold out (proving that there are others who like this). Also sells comic books, and video games. Surprisingly, no board games. Best, you can listen to the LP before you buy it so you know where it skips. No, there's no good reason for a record shop, which makes the existence of Records and Rarities all the more special. Desk guys are enthusiastic and can find things in the confusing jumble of shelving. They want you to like this. Go in, ask. Touch the music. It's really better that way.
