What a wonderful place and memorable experience! My daughter had so much fun mining for gems and then we had one of the gems that she found set into a beautiful ring. It takes a few weeks for it to be made and shipped, but absolutely worth the wait! The customer service is impeccable and everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable. We had so much fun and we can't wait to go back!

We had a fun time finding all kinds of stones, quartz, agates and many others. My niece, her two young boys went and had a blast. We were shown how to wash our bucket of material and what to look for. It was also relaxing. The sounds of the small creek close by coupled with the water running through the shoot.

Rio Doce Gem Mine is a fantastic activity. Staff are very friendly and willing to help you with any questions. Also, they are willing to help you learn about lapidary. Classes are offered here. You will end up learning about gems and the precious stones that you find. You start by selecting a size of bucket you want to sift through. There are several options available for what bucket size to get, from the smallest is 15, 2 gallon to the best valued 65, 3.5 gallon bucket that comes with a free cut. Believe me when you see the gems that are processed you will wish you got the 3.5 gallon bucket with the free gem cut. The buckets come from North Carolina and Brazil. Recommended for all ages, go ahead and dig for some gems! Parking is easy and handicap accessible.

Surprised they were open with Covid-19 restrictions. Nice place, reasonable prices. We grabbed a surprise bucket to go. Found lots of beautiful gems.
