These tabby ruins really tell the story of the Berners Barnwell Sams family's plantation on Dataw Island. The interpretive History Center has incredible information about the Sams family and their life here on Dataw.

DON'T TRY TO GO HERE! The website is misleading. This is all on private property. You will arrive at the gate and be unable to get in. We were disappointed and frustrated to be unable to visit.

Made the drive to see this, only to be stopped at the gate to be told that if I know someone on the island, I can get a pass to see this site. Otherwise I'm SOL.
