This company has produces some of the most impressive productions I have seen at any company of a similar size. I have seen international opera stars on their stage next to incredible local talent. This company is a major asset to the St. Louis community. Each year I look forward to watching the company continued success as St. Louis’s #1 original language opera company.

Really enjoyed the show (H.M.S. Pinafore)! All the performers sang very well and did fantastic job, fun with lots of energy. We will be going back and will probably sit in the balcony for a better view.

Last night's production of Bernstein's Candide was nothing short of fabulous. Union Avenue Opera does a wonderful job with limited resources and a small stage. It was, as always, a showcase for amazing singing. Jesse Darden's Broadway-worthy voice was marvelous. Brooklyn Snow's effortless voice came close to shattering the beautiful stained-glass windows in the sublime old church that serves as the venue. But my star was Christopher Nelson, whose rich tenor voice belongs in Italian opera. The small orchestra produces a large and flawless music -- their rendition of the famous overture was superb, and all the music was delivered perfectly -- they make it look easy. I was blown away by it all.

Candide was done very well here. The stage and seating were setup nicely for the space. I enjoyed the art gallery during the intermission as well. Parking can be a bit messy, however.

Interesting depressing topic that needs remembering and analysis and this was a great vehicle for doing that... Amazing performances by the cast in masterfully choreographed and demanding roles.

Company with a 24 year history of presenting opera in the original language. Acoustics in the church are excellent. Well received in the community with a loyal base of patrons.
