Very poor quality houses with even worse quality house manager at Oneida Street house. Talk about a power trip! Guy has been living there for three years and calls himself the “Terminator” for all the residents he kicks out. Good short term for a few months, but depends on the manager. Aaron is a really good guy too.

Second Step supportive housing provided me with a safe, structured and affordable place for me to live when I got out of inpatient treatment. My House was full of Men who wanted to make changes in their lives and selves similar to the ones I was striving to make for myself. The program does an excellent job holding people accountable to themselves, their housemates and the house as a whole. I have made many friends during my time with second step and most importantly I have made many of the changes within myself that I was hoping to make when I moved in to SSSHP.
I moved in to Second Step Housing directly from treatment. It was recommended for me to be in sober living for three months by the treatment facility. Nine months later I am still with Second Step and have enjoyed being sober with the friends I have made here. I feel I have been treated with respect by my peers and by managers and have been able to move forward in my sobriety with help from them.
2nd Step Supportive Housing is a great environment to focus on life skills, and living sober. The camaraderie and accountability enabled me to learn how to ask for help, talk about my problems, and live the a life in the Program. It was also affordable enough that I didn't need to rely upon others They also encourage individuals to work towards independence and becoming responsible for their own expenses. Their fees made this possible.
I stayed at Second Step Housing over three years when I initially planned to be there only 6 months. The help, friendship and quality of recovery has helped me become who I am today. I will always be indebted to the people and mission of Second Step. I recommend it to all who need a hand getting their recovery blossoming. Duane Wharton
