I'm terrified of snakes - don't hate them but pass out/faint/black out if I see them. Much to my shock going out to the area where my great dane likes to lie and soak up the sun was a sparkly \thing\ Terrified, I asked my neighbor to come look at confirm if it wasss what I thought it might be. She said yes, took picsss and then hauled the skin away. She sent pics to an app that said it couldn't be ID'd. SPWC was sent pics and confirmed that it was a rat snake. My question remains: why now? and why would a snake shed in the open are like it did? or is it possible that a bird or something else dragged it there? Anyway, highly recommend SPWC for guidance and ID of \thingssss

I used SPWC to help identify a snake shed I found in a spot where I take my students. I wanted to make sure I wasn't bringing my students around any venomous snakes, but more importantly we just wanted our ID confirmed as we are all learning to ID snakes via sheds together. I experienced great customer service with a reply coming in just an hour or so after I sent pictures of the snake shed. We communicated strictly via email but from my interactions with SPWC all was respectful and professional. Will definitely be sending them pictures of sheds in the future since it was so accurate and quick. Could have used a little more info regarding HOW the ID was made, but upon further thought those skills are kind of the tricks of their trade that they may not want to give away willy-nilly.

We found a snake skin in our St Petersburg, Florida yard, and were concerned that it might be from a venomous snake. The experts at St Petersburg Wildlife Control had us send photos of the skin, and, at no charge, quickly identified it for us. Happily, the skin belonged to a harmless rat snake. I'm very grateful to St Petersburg Wildlife Control for their quick response -- and once again, all at no charge!
