Really great spot. Single lane road driving up to the main parking area which may be daunting for some but there were plenty of pull offs in case a car came. Parking was easy and there was even a bathroom there. Good clear marking of the paths. We did the green to the red path for a slightly shorter hike. Very nice mix of trees and plants shake and sun. Tons of little frogs everywhere. Water views was very clean and nice. Saw turtle, frogs, salamander, tons of birds and dragonflies. Would likely be a great place to take kids.

It is an admission free nature preserve area with nice trails. They are amazing. My daughter even spotted river crayfish along with the trails. You are also able to bring your kayak to enjoy your time.

Having lived in greater Fredericksburg for over 20 years, I was pleased to discover the Crow's Nest Natural Area a few days ago. My wife and I were searching online for a not-to-distant nature getaway and decided on the Crow's Nest. Saturday was a dry, sunny day and great for an outing. Upon arrival we saw that there were several trail options. We chose the 5 mile (round trip) trail and throroughly enjoyed the walk. The trail was ranked \moderate\ in terms of terrain/demand. It was well kept with a few soggy areas along the way. The sense of open space was gratifying and the aged trees in the forest were grandiose. We were rewarded with a beautiful river view at the halfway point. This was a worthwhile experience. I wouldn't recommend this excursion immediately after significant rainy weather, but do find an opportunity to check it out!

Beautiful and peaceful! Was not crowded at all felt like we had the water to ourselves. There is a small board walk with an area to launch kayaks it is a walk but I had no issues with my paddle board. There’s plenty of parking and the area was very clean.

Very well maintained trails. Great observation spots for marsh and Aquia and Potomac Rivers.
