Good hospital, better for your basic emergency. If anything with heart or severe trauma, go to the north. No MRI machine here. They have a pediatric but only for your basic flu or stomach ache. Better off going to north SIUH for ortho, cardiac, trauma. Great nurses and doctors at this hospital. Also for stroke related symptoms you can go here.
Unless you’re dying and don’t have a choice as to where you get brought, stay as far away as possible. South and north...Useless.
I was recently taken by ambulance to the emergency room at Staten Island University South Hospital. The ER doctor informed me that I was suffering DKA due to my diabetes. I was pleasantly surprised that the south campus was coronavirus free because they test for the virus in the Er and if you are positive, they transfer the patient over to the north site. I was immediately taken to ICU for a day and then I spent another four days on the fourth floor. Danielle Martucci and Theresa Curucio were two of my nurses and they were phenomenal! Danielle is the embodiment of a perfect nurse. She is sweet, kind, smart, and competent. She went above and beyond crushing my pills that I couldn't swallow and making sure I saw the GI doctor that finally diagnosed me with esophagitis and gastritis. If it weren't for her they might have not caught it. Theresa was wonderful as well. She taught me a trick how I can disolve my pill and told me exactly what to expect. I never had to wait long while I was in pain and it was nice to have normal conversations with her. This hospital is lucky to have these nurses as their employees. If I was ever to get sick again, I would hope and pray to have them care for me.
Very Caring staff!
SIUH is lazy. Plain and simple.
I loved my experience here at the Staten Island University Hospital South Site at 392 Seguine Avenue. This is the Opiod Dependence Long term withdrawl management building. Specially i visited the MMTOP here as a guest from the MMTOP at 111 Water St, the SUIH North Campus' methadone maintenance building. I must say im a little bias because i was born at the exact hospital on the south site in August of 1990. But my experience with the woman who runs the front desk, Helene i believe her name was, was an amazing experience. She is kind, courteous, non-judgemental, not demeaning in her tone, attitude, or the overall way she conducts herself. Also, the nurses were a pleasant surprise compared to the ones at the North Site. Beside this one nurse (at the South Site) who is an absolute terror. She is horribly rude, talks down to any patient's who need to come there for guest medication. Its kinds offsetting and terrible to have to go there and deal with that particular nurse but, the overall experience at the South site of Seguine is better then my experiences at the Stapleton North Site.
No waiting area for relatives of patients. Only 1 visitor in an room
