I had shopped there somewhat regularly in both locations when they were both open. One day about 5 years ago I went to the Sterling location with the stated intention that I was looking for a small, all tube amp. I wasn't looking to test drive their stuff and then buy elsewhere. I was there to buy and was looking to spend about 500. Again, this was stated to the salesman. He was a grey bearded gent, about 5 foot 7. Anyway, I fell in love with the Blues Jr. The salesman went to sell me the floor model at the standard price. I asked if there would be a discount for the floor model (who knows ho long the tubes had been burning). He rudely TOLD me that, \People WANT the floor model..they know it works\. I replied that is fine what other people want for their money, but if I am paying full price, I would like one new in a box. I also showed him how the input jack was not quite right (move it and it made a ton of noise...hence why floor models are usually discounted). He literally rolled his eyes at me, begrudgingly got me one in a box and left it at my feet and walked away. Umm....ok..cool, I guess. I am not some kid looking to be pain. I am a middle aged guy who has been playing for almost 35 years. I have worked customer service. I was NOT being difficult or rude or demanding but i do not like being made to feel like I am bothering the staff by spending 500 at their store. They say it takes 7 years to gain back a customer. I guess I have 2 more to go but I haven't been back since. Sweetwater, American Music Supply both have free shipping and their help is courteous and knowledgeable and returning stuff is seldom a problem. Everyone has a bad day, and I get that but people go to brick and mortar stores for the SERVICE. They also stay away for lack thereof. and, yes I did buy the amp and love it. Upgraded the tubes and speaker with items bought elsewhere.

I had a phenomenal experience at Melodee during the busy holiday season. They were short two people but managed to squeeze me in during the rush anyway. Chris was extremely knowledgeable and kind and they got me in and out super quick! I highly highly recommend everyone come here for your musical needs.
Real nice folks! I took my guitar there to get some work done, they were very knowledgeable and they had it done in a week. They didn't even charge me very much to fix it!! Highly reccomend to new players like myself!
Melodee Music is a great spot for musical equipment in Sterling - they have an extensive array of instruments; especially electric/acoustic guitars (also amps, pedals, ukeleles, banjos and mandolins). The staff is always helpful and is my go-to local spot for when I need a cable or other accessory items in a hurry. Much more personable than chain stores like Guitar Center (also closer for those living in Loudoun or northwestern Fairfax counties) and a hands-down better offering than Music & Arts down the road. They also have drum equipment, microphones/pro audio and various other world instruments available- it'd be nice if they carried a larger variety of synths/keyboards, but if you're looking for the aforementioned items this is the best place in the area. Lastly - they also handle setups/repairs for various instruments, so give them a call and see if they can help you out.
