I can only speak for the grounds, as the buildings weren't open when we visited summer of 2020. But it is a beautiful place, impeccably maintained, and the landscape is gorgeous (as is most of Berkshire County). The trails through the grounds are very pretty, and have some interesting exhibitions themselves. We are looking forward to going back, when we can enter the buildings at some point in the future. But even as a tour of the grounds, it was well worth it. One can very easily see how the artist was inspired by his surroundings.

Beautiful historical property. Can't wait to come back and explore more!
Relaxing ground with nice views of the surrounding Berkshire hills. Unable to enter buildings due to COVID-19 restrictions, but enjoyed picnicking on the grounds in the cool shade of the Pergola beside the gardens. A short steep hike up the Ledges Trail afterward was an unexpected treat. Enjoyed the wood sculptures along the lower woodlands trail.
Had to see the gardens where Isadora Duncan once danced
i really enjoyed the chesterwood. seeing the plaster castings and how Daniel Chester French created his sculptures and worked in his studio was very interesting. 3 of the castings you'll will see is the Abraham Lincoln Memorial that is in Washington, DC, the George Washington Memorial that is in Paris, France (even tho Daniel was never in Paris) and Our Lady Of Columbia (America's Unofficial symbol of Liberty. yes before the Statue of Liberty). the French house was gorgeous and has many original pieces and some of the room Daniel would recognize if he would walk into them today. i only was able to see the first floor but they do open the second floor in occasions. the tour guide was a pleasure to talk with and did't rush you through the tour and was happy to answer all questions. if you are planing to do some site seeing around here they do offer a discount packages for the Chesterwood, The Mount, Norman Rockwell and i believe the Ventfort Hall was on the list too. there was at least 4 historical landmarks you could get a discount. i went to The Mount First and they didn't mention it so you might want to start from the Chesterwood first.
