Ed has given my 9 year old daughter online violin lessons for the past several months. He is very patient and encouraging. I highly recommend Ed!

I’ve been studying with Ed for three sessions now, fulfilling a life long dream of studying violin. He’s probably the most patient and nurturing arts teacher I’ve ever had, and has even adapted his classes to streaming on Zoom so we can continue our studies while practicing social distancing during the current crisis. As a bonus, he’s got a great sense of humor, and I’ve made amazing friendships with several students I’ve met through him. I HIGHLY recommend him!

Ed is a great violin teacher. As someone who was an adult beginner, his experience, enthusiasm and ability to translate the music into imagery and break music down into approachable tasks has made it accessible to learn and enjoy. Sign up, you won't regret it!

I’ve been studying at String school for 5 years. This is the best group violin class for adults in NYC. Ed is an excellent teacher. He is kind, patient, and I’m still amazed how well his teaching method helps me progress quickly and effectively. I had no previous musical background when I signed up for Ed’s class. It was a spontaneous idea to study the violin... I looked up google and found Strings schools web site and signed up for group class on a Sunday, started my first private lesson (included with group class) on Monday night, the next day. Ed’s response to my email was quick. The lesson was instructive and encouraging. So I decided to continue. Now I’m on Suzuki book 5 and also play the Irish fiddle and perform in gigs. I recommend his class to anyone who wants to play the violin. It’s never too late to learn, especially with a great teacher like Ed. And if you are a fiddler, you can definitely benefit from the classical techniques taught in his class. The recitals are the best part of violin study. I enjoy playing in front of my classmates and friends. The fee is necessary to cover studio rental. It’s very little, considering how much I learn from performing in public. Performing skills only get better with practice. It’s also a great way to set goals for myself, since it’s every 4 months. It’s great to be in a supportive environment and among students who also work so hard on the violin study all term.

Ed Davis teaches the Suzuki method beautifully, with a lot of patience and helpful feedback. It’s a perfect fit for me, an enthusiastic adult beginner. I have learned so much since starting a couple of years ago with Stringschool, and am excited to continue here. The classes are fun and informative and the private lessons are a great way to troubleshoot and to fine-tune your techniques.
