This place is a joke, Rented a pontoon boat a week before going to Grand Haven for my daughters birthday. The day of our rental they called and said that their boat was broken down an hour before we were supposed to rent it, after we went to the store and bought food and drinks to go out for a nice day on the boat, The gentleman said the boat was broken down, we got there come to find out they overbooked and he lied to us and said the boat was broken down. As we sat there and watch other people get on the boat that we were supposed to rent. He stated that they had to pull the boat out of the water and I kept questioning him about the boat then finally he broke down and told me the truth that they over booked I don’t know how you can be in business and lie to your customers like that.

My extended family rented a jet ski. It's frustrating to spend over an hour shuttling over to and back from (at no wake speeds) the lake where you can meaningfully use it. (A 2-hour rental would seem almost pointless.) On top of that, if you have multiple people who want to take turns using it at Spring Lake, you have to swim out to the jet ski, which is not permitted to be closer than 30 feet to the small public beach swimming area. Changing drivers on the water is a tricky operation (we flipped the machine). We're disappointed that they had no dock privileges on the primary use lake..But the jet ski performed well and was a lot of fun.

Sun sports was wonderful to deal with. Easy to rent a speedboat for 1/2 day on Silver Lake. Nice boat and knowledgeable staff. Would recommend to anyone visiting the Grand Haven area!

We Rented a Deck Boat, Kayaks & Pedal Bikes during busy Coast Guard 2016 week and everything went perfectly. They are located on the water in downtown Grand Haven, so convenient! The Staff are extremely helpful, pleasantly engaging and fun to work with. They talked us through the best equipment to rent for our needs and took extra time to describe how to use everything we rented. The equipment is always in good working order, it's obvious they take pride in providing great service. We rent from Sun Sports every summer and it makes our stay in Grand Haven even more enjoyable!

My husband and I decided to rent bikes for our week stay in Grand Haven. The staff working the desk at Sun Sports was friendly when we arrived and answered all of our questions. We picked our beach cruisers and the staff helped my husband adjust his seat and get it outside to the parking lot (my bike seat did not need adjusting). As soon as my husband sat on the bike seat and started to ride in the parking lot he said something was wrong and that we needed to go back. He told the staff that the seat was slightly bent and they immediately gave him another bike to use for the week. Four days later we returned our bikes. Two days after returning the bikes, my husband received a text on his phone that we were being charged for a new bike seat on the original bike that was in our possession for maybe a total of four minutes and never left the parking lot. They never gave us an explanation as to why we weren't confronted about this situation when we returned the bikes at the end of the day on Thursday and why they waited six days to text us about something that was out of our control. Part of owning a rental shop is proper maintenance and upkeep of equipment and this store took advantage of the situation. While the cost to fix the bike seat didn't break the bank, it was the way the situation was handled that disappointed us and completely put a bad taste in our mouth. It is a shame though because we had such a wonderful time in Grand Haven.

Sun sports is always my go to rental shop! They are incredibly friendly and welcoming the second you walk through the door. They give enough information about all of their equipment so there are no questions left unanswered. They are very accommodating and do their best to satisfy everyone's needs. When it gets a bit busy it's understandable to be flustered, but they seem to hold up very well! Would definitely recommend

Had a poor experience with their kayak rental. We had to carry our kayak and get all the way to the start point over a hundred feet away. This wasn't too bad, but one of the kayaks started to sink immediately. We brought it back to shore and switched out for a canoe. They wouldn't rebate us on our money since we got a cheaper canoe, which was poor customer service. I kept using my kayak during the two hour trip. Half way through the trip my kayak started filling with water too. I had to bring my boat to shore not one but twice to drain the water. Turns out the kayak was missing the drain plug. Talk about a poor setup. Never had this problem ever before. Finally got back. I notified the guy running the place and said their kayaks do this all the time. So laughable. Didn't even apologize. Not going back to this place. Poor equipment and poor customer service.
