This is such a hidden gem of Japanese cuisine. I've grown up and lived in Gardena all my life, and I'm surprised to be just discovering this restaurant!! Definitely worth a visit if you love Udon or innovation within Japanese cuisine. The chef is very friendly and a joy to talk to as well

Best udon i have ever had. I will be back.
Too pricey for what you get. Udon was good.
cant wait for pandemic to be over and have all the great options again. to go beef udon and chirashi set were great
Very authentic Japanese experience in private room with servers in Kimono. Food was excellent
Good Western Japanese comfort food in general. The broth here is much lighter in taste than Japanese food that originated in the East. So you may or may not appreciate that aspect. You can always add some soy sauce if you feel it lacking. If you like subtly flavored broth, the udon dishes are a good fit. If you're cool with innards, the motsu is really good. If you're not too familiar with Japanese food, I'd suggest the chicken katsu. Quite tasty and filling. This last comment is aimed at the two other people in the area that would consider ordering natto: the natto yamakake soba was total bland-fest. And I'm comparing this to the natto yamakake that you can find at the convenience store Natural Lawson in Japan. For those that don't know, natto is a fermented soy bean dish that you usually have with white rice. It's one of those foods that you have to grow up with like the feet of farm animals or eggs that have developed a bit, vegan imitation meats, etc. I love the stuff, but no one likes it the first time. These pictures are from lunch today.
This restaurant in its hay-days used to line up outside the restaurant. I have been coming here since 1990, and over the last 8 years or so, watched this once landmark restaurant deteriorate. It is really sad how few changes in ownership can kill such a great thing. This is not the once awesome Sanuki. Their menu and udon broth is nowhere near what it once was. Sad. Stay away from this place. Update: I heard from a friend (4/22/2021) that there was new ownership. I revisited. Found out it still the same. Udon was nothing special - taste just like any other instant udon.
